Title: Les vampires
Length: 399 minutes (in 10 episodes)
Director: Louis Feuillade
Writer: Louis Feuillade
Starring: Musidora, Édouard Mathé, Marcel Lévesque
Music: Robert Israel (Image DVD)
I saw it: on video (rented from Greencine), over the past couple weeks
Synopsis: a reporter investigates a secret order of criminals
Characters: There are a couple great characters, but mostly crap.
Dialog: Oh my goodness so many scenes of conversation with no titles.
Music: Simple arrangements of classical music for a small chamber ensemble – quite nice. I am impressed that they went to the trouble at all to record a score for such a massive movie that not many people care about.
Subjective Rating: 5/10 (Indifferent, ). There’s some good stuff. Occasional stunts or moments of humor. Lots of camp and over-the-top melodrama. Musidora and her wardrobe are adorable. For the first five or six episodes I almost liked it. But it just keeps going…
